Spacedock was selected for Plug and Play Tech Center Seattle’s AI Center for Excellence, a competitive 12-week accelerator connecting ten frontier-tech startups with the region’s leading aerospace innovators — including Boeing and Blue Origin . The program’s focus on artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing aligns directly with Spacedock’s mission to enable autonomous, modular connectivity in orbit.

Announced First On-Orbit Demonstration Mission

Spacedock’s first in-orbit demonstration is slated for Q2 2026, in collaboration with satellite-bus partner Oligo Space and payload partner Melagen Labs . The mission will validate the company’s modular brokerage model — connecting spacecraft hosts with new payload customers — while earning flight heritage for Spacedock’s universal connector and advancing the foundation for a truly plug-and-play orbital economy.

Spacedock is partnering with Space Robotics Workers (SRW) to conduct a ground demonstration showcasing the company’s universal connector as the autonomous interface linking robotic trusses for on-orbit infrastructure. The test will validate precise, reliable mating and de-mating under varying alignments — a critical capability for assembling and maintaining modular structures in space.

Spacedock has also announced a new partnership with Arkisys , marking another key step toward a modular and interoperable orbital ecosystem. Under the MOU, Spacedock units will fly on both the Cutter OTV demo mission and the Arkisys Port — a long-duration on-orbit platform for technology hosting, satellite integration, and resupply.

Why Now: The Industry Is Catching Up

Momentum for orbital interoperability isn’t theoretical anymore — it’s being written directly into next-generation spacecraft requirements. At the 2025 Air & Space Forces Association Conference (AFA 2025), the United States Space Force confirmed that its upcoming RG-XX constellation — the planned replacement for the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP) — will, for the first time, be required to support on-orbit refueling.

The announcement marks a significant inflection point for the industry. As the Space Force begins formalizing interoperability requirements, technologies like Spacedock’s universal connector stand to become critical infrastructure — enabling the secure, autonomous exchange of power, data, and fuel between spacecraft.

This mandate signals a clear shift in how satellites will be designed and operated: they’ll no longer be single-use assets that expire when fuel runs out, but serviceable, extendable systems capable of refueling and evolving in orbit. That evolution directly aligns with Spacedock’s mission to make orbital infrastructure modular, scalable, and sustainable.
